Albena M. Hattenberger
Albena M. Hattenberger, 81, Kettle River, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born on June 2, 1930 in Roundup, Montana to Albin and Mary Finco. Albena grew up and began attending school in Montana. At the age of 14, Albena moved to Silver Twp. with her family. She began working at Milczark's Cafe in Kettle River at the age of 15. Albena attended Moose Lake High School graduating in 1948. On June 26, 1948, Albena married Lee Hattenberger in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Split Rock Twp. She was a homemaker through the years and also farmed with her family. Albena was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where she was a religious instructor and belonged to its Rosary Society. She had also been active in the Kettle River and Moose Lake PTA and the Star Club Auxiliary. Albena loved gardening, sewing, crocheting, and was proud of her flower beds.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albin Finco; and her mother, Mary Kallio.
Albena will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Lee; 8 children: Ed (Mary) of Hinckley; Ellen (Dan) Davis of Mahtowa; Joe (Brenda) of Hinckley; Bob of Kettle River; Jim (Betsy) of Kettle River; John (Donna) of Carlton; Mike (Jane) of Minneapolis; and Greg (Becky) of Kettle River; 20 Grandchildren;
23 Great Grandchildren; 2 sisters: Joan (Fred) Bryck of Oregon and Geraldine Jokimaki of Roseville; brother: Dr. Delmar (Marion) Finco of Watkinsville, Georgia; and half brother: Frank (Gerri) Kallio of Roanoke, Virginia.
A Memorial Visitation was from 6-8 PM with a 7:30 Rosary Service on Thursday, March 8, 2012 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continue from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Mass on Friday, March 9, 2012 in St. Joseph's Catholic Chapel, Split Rock Twp. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Split Rock Twp.
