Obituary

Alice Darlene Heaton, 85, resident of Moose Lake, died peacefully on Saturday, February 1 st , 2020 in Villa Vista Care Center of Cromwell, with her family by her side. She was born in Thief River Falls on September 15 th , 1934 to Chris and Laura (Brown) Anton.

Alice grew up on the family farm, one of three children. In 1952, she graduated second in her class from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. Upon graduation, she worked various jobs, including being a member of the Civil Air Patrol, until the summer of 1960 when she met Dale Heaton. Although the two attended the same high school, they "re-met" as adults and became married on April 15 th , 1962. They wed in St. John's Lutheran Church of Thief River Falls – the church Alice was raised in. Alice moved to Moose Lake with Dale in 1962 where they started a family, raising three children together. Aside from their own children, Alice was everybody else's Mom in one way or another; no one left hungry as she made sure everyone was fed. She had an open door and home to anybody who needed it, and always had a station wagon full of kids going to and from some activity. Over the years, Alice was an owner and manager of many small businesses alongside Dale. She was a devoted member of Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake where she taught Sunday school and confirmation. She was a Girl Scouts Leader. Alice enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, knitting, sewing, playing bridge, and visiting with friends on the patio. Her passion was for animals and their well-being. She would donate to various animal organizations and had rescue dogs of her own. Above anything else, Alice loved being a grandmother, whether crafting with the grandkids or taking them for rides in her convertible. She was a tell-it-like-it-is type of woman so you always knew where you stood with her. Alice had a healthy sense of humor; she was feisty and outgoing, too. Alice will be remembered as beautiful, loving, and supportive, and she will be missed deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Stacia Heaton; and granddaughter, Alyson Gobel.

Alice is survived by her spouse of 57 years, Dale; children, Kris (Kevin) Huso and Matt Heaton; grandchildren, Tyler Huso, Megan (Zach) Thompson, Cole, Casey, and Asia Gobel, and Kyra and Ella Heaton; great-granddaughter, Mckenley Gobel; siblings, Arnold Anton and Joyce Larson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8 th , 2020 in Hope Lutheran Church from 12pm until 1pm, with the funeral beginning at 1pm. Interment will be held in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake, later in the spring of 2020.
