Alvin John Heittola, 78, of Brainerd, formerly of Cromwell, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 in St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud. He was born July 14, 1938 in Moose Lake to Emil and Lydia (Lundin) Heittola. Alvin was a member of the United States Army National Guard. Alvin was united in marriage to Catherine Carlson on February 6, 1959 in Automba. Alvin logged and farmed most of his life and was a member of the Local 49ers Union. Alvin also worked at Barton Sand and Gravel of Maple Grove. He loved the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Alvin is preceded in death by his parents; great grandchild, Aiden; sisters, Laila Autio and Shirley Laine; brothers, Raymond and Wayne.
Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Heittola of Brainerd; children, Sonny (Tracy Grewatz) Heittola of Crystal, Myron (Lois) Heittola of Belleville, WI, Elden (Rebecca) Heittola of Madison, WI and Russell (Lisa) Heittola of Brainerd; 6 grandchildren, Sara, Scott, Jenny, Rachael, Evan and Amber; great grandchildren, Landen, Ethen, Corben, Lexy, Mason, Shane, Jasmin, Mikayla, Payton and Kinley; brother-in-law, Armis Laine; many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, October 21, from Noon until the 1 PM Memorial Service in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
