Alvin Schleicher, age 91, of Sturgeon Lake, passed away at Essentia Medical Center, Duluth, MN on Dec. 1, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born to Otto and Martha Schleicher in Albany, MN on Dec. 24, 1931. Al joined the Army in 1950 and fought in the Korean war. On Oct. 18, 1958 he married the love of his life, Lenore Broten at St Isidore's in Sturgeon Lake.

Al and Lenore resided in the Twin Cities where he worked for the railroad for 10 years and then worked at a machine shop until retiring. In 1999, they moved to Sturgeon Lake, MN.

His favorite pastime was fishing. He loved taking out his little boat and sitting out on the lake where it was so peaceful and panfish. He also really enjoyed duck and goose hunting. He would go with his son and a couple of friends out to North Dakota hunting.

Al also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels, playing cards, playing the concertina, listening to old time polka music, and dancing. We know in our hearts, that's exactly what he's doing now.

Al was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Christina and Dorothy and 2 brothers: Ervin and Norby.

He is survived by his wife: Lenore; son: Don (Laurie) of Grand Rapids, MN; 3 grandchildren: Tim (Heather) of Coon Rapids, MN, Christina (Brian) of Duluth, MN, and Brandi (Mike) of Bovey, MN; 6 great grandchildren: Hunter, Allicia, Graham, Roy, Cash and Miika; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1 pm until the 2 pm service on Friday Dec. 8, 2023 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose Lake, MN.  Burial will follow in St. Isidore's Catholic Cemetery, Moose Lake.
