Amy V. Taipale

Amy V. Taipale, 76, Sturgeon Lake, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. She was born to Ernest and Elizabeth Peterson on January 26, 1933 in Port Wing, WI where she grew up and attended school. On June 9, 1951, Amy married Veikko Taipale in Superior. They lived in Hermantown and Cloquet before moving to Moose Lake in 1994. Amy was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake where she was very active in the Priscilla Circle. She was known to many as the "cake lady" and was well known for her wonderful cakes that she created for weddings, graduations, and birthdays. Amy and Veikko enjoyed traveling to many different areas of the world.

Amy was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Elizabeth Peterson; her daughter: Terri Taipale; and her sister: Betty Helsing.

Amy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Veikko; three children: Steven (Monica) of Sweden; Dan (Michelle) of Elk River; and Kathy (Lynden) Johnson of Eagan; 10 Grandchildren; and her sister: LaVerne Hogfeldt of Cable, WI.

A Gathering of Family and Friends was held from 12:00 Noon until the 1:00 Memorial Service on Thursday, July 2, 2009 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Private Inurnment was held in Greenwood Cemetery, Port Wing, WI.
