Angeline Irene Anderson, 98 of Willow River passed away peacefully on May 9, 2015 at Augustana Health Care Center, Moose Lake. Angeline Irene Stepan was born March 30, 1917 in Willow River, Minnesota. She was the third of eight children born to Albert and Verna (Zywicki) Stepan.
Angie made her First Communion and Confirmation on the same day at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willow River when she was twelve years old.
She graduated from Willow River High School third in her class in 1935.
She married Harvey Anderson from Willow River in 1936 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. They made their home in Willow River from 1936 until 1948 when they moved to Askov, Minnesota. Five children were born during those years in Willow River and five more after they moved to Askov. Angie created a warm and loving environment for raising their children. Harvey died in 1969. She and her last two children moved back to Willow River in 1971 next to St. Mary's Church.
Angie was active in PTA, American Legion Auxiliary, Willow River Community Club, Garden Club, St. Mary's Rosary Society, and taught religion. She worked as a Senior Companion at Moose Lake State Hospital for ten years, and as a Foster Grandparent at Willow River School.
She married Walter Kretzschmar in 1978. They met while working as Senior Companions and enjoyed 19 good years together.
Her interests were baking pies and kolaches, playing the piano, growing flowers, crocheting, sewing, picking blueberries, and most of all her family.
Angie thrived on love and support from her children. She wrote a book, "How I Raised A Family On Faith and Unspoken Love". Her life was filled with love, faith, and family. She was warm and welcoming. She listened and cared about what was happening in others' lives, and everyone left her home feeling loved.
She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Harvey Anderson and 2nd husband Walter Kretzschmar; her parents; sons-in-law, Floyd Ledin and Donald Youngquist; daughter-in-law Catherine Anderson; brothers, Albert and Leonard Stepan; sisters, Alice Novak, Justina Sharlow and Alberta Stepan.
Angie is survived by her sons, Donald (Jan) Anderson, David (Joyce) Anderson, Thomas (Deanna) Anderson and Richard (Laurie) Anderson; daughters, Gloria Youngquist, Shirley Ledin, Judith (Patrick) Delaney, Linda Lang, Nancy (Michael) Bennett and Katherine (Richard) Herzog; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 4 - 7 pm with a Rosary Service at 6:00 pm in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, 609 Folz Blvd, Moose Lake. Visitation will continue on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8118 Lake St., Willow River. Interment in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Willow River.
