Anna Marie (Walczak) Kulas, 93, of Sturgeon Lake and Moose Lake, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born June 10, 1922 in Sturgeon Lake on the family farm to Joseph and Martha (Maniak) Walczak and had 12 siblings. Anna was united in marriage to Chester Kulas on June 14, 1941 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Split Rock Township. Anna and Chester lived on Chester's family farm and raised three children, Marie, Stanley and Bernadette. Anna worked on the farm as well as General Andrews Nursery. Anna took great pride in helping to maintain the beauty of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She also cooked at Star Club Hall for weddings, funerals and Saturday night dances. Anna enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning and making homemade sausage. After selling the farm, Anna moved to Moose Lake and lived independently. One of Anna's joys later in life was helping her son Stanley garden on his lake property.
Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Chester; her parents; grandson, Mark Danelski; son-in-law, Burton Danelski; 12 brothers and sisters.
Anna is survived by 3 children, Marie Danelski, Bernadette Kulas and Stanley "Stash" (Ann) Kulas; grandchildren, Paul (Eve Mellum) Danelski, Lori (Scott) Firm and MaryAnn Kulas; great grandchildren, Jaiden Danelski, Ava and Zach Firm, McKenzie and Jacob Doyle and Bethanie and Mackenzie Mellum; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, from 6-8 PM and will continue Wednesday, April 20, from 9-10 AM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 6493 Hwy 27, Split Rock Township. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
