Arlene F. Dougherty, 93, of Perham and Sartell passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born January 26, 1924 in Annandale to Oscar and Guida (Avery) McKenzie. Arlene graduated from Litchfield High School. She was united in marriage to Joseph Dougherty. Arlene was a lifelong member Perham V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #4020. She loved the outdoors, walking, biking, reading, baking banana bread and lemon cookies. Arlene especially loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; infant son, Douglas; 2 daughters, LouAnn Christensen and Mary Jo Fenstad; 2 granddaughters, Holly and Jenna Karkela; 2 sons-in-law, Ron Christensen and John Karkela; 3 brothers, Donald, Bill and Elwood "Swede" McKenzie.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Sue Karkela; son-in-law, Gere (Addie) Fenstad; daughter-in-law, Sarah Christensen; grandchildren, Anthony (Beth) Fenstad, Heather Fenstad, Seth (Carrie) Karkela, Julie (Alex) McCallum, Emily (Jake) Louricas, Grant (Sarah Johnson) Christensen and McKenzie (Blake Randall) Christensen; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Erika and Gavin Fenstad, Sophia and Hadley Louricas, Charlotte "Charlie" and Avery McCallum; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Ed.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 25, at 4 P.M. in Country Manor Chapel, 520 1st Street N.E., Sartell.
