Obituary

Arthur Charles Swanson, 93, of Moose Lake, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in Moose Lake, MN. Art was born to Oscar and Vera (Borene) Swanson on August 4, 1922 in Sandstone, MN. He graduated from Sandstone High School in 1939. Art worked at Moose Lake State Hospital for his entire career which began in September 1952. It was during this time he met his one and only girlfriend, Anne Elizabeth Sampair and they were united in marriage on May 1, 1954 in Maplewood, MN. He retired January 2, 1985 from MLSH after working 32 years. Art loved life, being surrounded by family and friends, camping, auctions, church, gardening and reminiscing. He also enjoyed wintering for many years in Mission, TX at Circle T Park.

Art is preceded in death by loving wife of 55 years Anne, parents Oscar & Vera, brother Ralph (Almeda), sister Doris Nass, father and mother in law Howard & Freida Sampair, brother in laws Glen Backe and Frank Sampair and sister in laws Eleanor (Alan) Beaver and Phyllis Cummings Cook.

Art is survived by sister Jane Backe, brother in laws Jerry Sampair and Bernard (Loella) Nass, nieces and nephews Josh (Carol), Lynne (Joe), Steve (Pam), Nan (Rick), Sue (Tom), Jeff (Debbie), Pam (Pat), Scott, David (Gina), Jim (Kim), Mike, Danny, Chip (Cyndi), Jack, Eddie, Ronda, Krissy, Jason, Tia (Matt), Rory and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews and cousins! Art will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m., Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake, MN with service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Blomskog Cemetery, Sturgeon Lake, MN. Lunch to follow at church.
