Obituary

Barbara Ann Rose Brusewitz, 81, of Sturgeon Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 29, 2021, surrounded by her daughters. Barb is the daughter of Paul Haunch and Veronica Plsek and is survived by her sister and best friend, Patricia Peardon.

Barb was born on December 14, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Palmyra, Wisconsin.  Barb had an independent and adventurous spirit that resulted in her living in many places such as North Carolina, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico and for her final adventure, planted her roots in Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota in 1987.

Barb easily made friends, was easy to talk to and a lot of young people called her, "mom." Famous for her love of hugs, you couldn't resist her contagious smile."

Locals may know her from her days as a hostess at Grand Casino and Black Bear Casino, and later, providing lots of smiles and laughs working at DJ's Gas Station.

Barb survived her husband, friend and grouse hunting partner, Bill Brusewitz. She is very loved by her children, Toni McGuire, Terri Cole, Gina Apodaca, Michele Apodaca, Lisa Apodaca, Marty Apodaca, Steve Brusewitz, Todd Brusewitz and Vicki Sabre. She is lovingly remembered by her cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Barb's final wish is to have her ashes taken to the woods at her home and the Sawbill Trail, North Shore to be back with Bill, the love of her life.

An outdoor memorial is set for Saturday, June 26, 2021, from Noon to 4:00pm. Friends and family are welcome to stop by during this time to visit and remember Barbara at her home at 86815 Frontier Lane, Sturgeon Lake, MN.
