Bentti Rudolph Nordlund, 92, of Moose Lake, formerly of Kettle River, passed away Wednesday, December 9 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. He was born March 1, 1923 in Kalevala Township to John and Mary (Makela) Nordlund. Bentti was united in marriage to Evelyn Leino on May 21, 1960 in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kettle River. Bentti and Evelyn lived in Biwabik and Kettle River before moving to Moose Lake. Bentti farmed, raised turkeys, logged and worked for the DMIR Railroad for 10 years. Bentti was then employed at CAP Oil and Propane of Kettle River as a Service Technician for 20 years until retiring in 1985. Bentti was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kettle River. Bentti enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. In his early years he played basketball, hockey and baseball and was also on a bowling league.
Bentti is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Oiva and Urho "Bill" Nordlund.
Bentti is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Evelyn of Moose Lake; daughters, Brenda (Dave) Valine of Carlton, Julie (Terry) Johnson of Mora and Janet (Tom) Olson of East Bethel; grandchildren, Emily, Amy and Abbie Valine, Jacob, Sam and Katie Johnson and Alexis and Logan Olson; other relatives and friends.
