Bernadine E. Edin
Bernadine E. Edin, 90, Moose Lake, formerly of Duquette, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born on October 9, 1921 in Isanti County to Gust and Marie Meyer. Bernadine grew up in Isanti and attended Isanti District #45 School where Math was her best subject. She moved with her parents to Malmo in 1936 and later to Duquette in 1945. In 1946, Bernadine began working at the Duquette store. On June 10, 1950, Bernadine married John "Hilding" Edin in Bruno. They moved to Minneapolis where she worked at Vic's Market cutting meat and dressing wild game and waterfowl. Bernadine was also a homemaker through the years. After Hilding's death in 1965, Bernadine moved to Duquette and worked at the Duquette Store cutting meat and making potato sausage and porketta roasts until retiring in 1990 at the age of 69. Bernadine loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing but was also widely known for her beautiful embroidery.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her husband, Hilding on April 16, 1965; her brothers and sisters; and her parents.
She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of Family and Friends was held from 9 am until the 10 am Memorial Service on Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Oak Lake Lutheran Church, Kerrick Twp. Pastor Nathan Anderson will officiate. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
