Bernard "Bennie" Mohelski
Bernard "Bennie" Mohelski, 87, Moose Lake, died Friday, October 30, 2009 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. He was born on January 7, 1922 in Moose Lake to Stanley and Elizabeth Mohelski. Bennie grew up in Sturgeon Lake and attended Willow River High School. He worked with his Dad logging and at sawmills. Bennie later helped his uncle at the service station in Moose Lake and the Ford Garage. He later owned and operated the Standard Station in Moose Lake until 1968. Bennie later owned and operated the Tower Station in Moose Lake until he retired. He also snowplowed for several people in the Moose Lake area. Bennie had an incredible passion for auction sales and would drive many miles looking for a deal. He also had a daily routine that included several stops at local coffee shops. Bennie also loved to listen to polka music and watch his favorite TV shows including Oprah and Wheel of Fortune.
Bennie is preceded in death by his grandson: Jason Mohelski; a brother: Leonard Mohelski; sister: Irene Fogal; and his parents: Stanley and Elizabeth Mohelski.
He is survived by his son: Steve (Sharon) Mohelski of Barnum; brother: Bob Mohelski of Sturgeon Lake; sister: Anne Mohel of Minneapolis; three grandchildren: Cory Mohelski of Proctor; Camy Mohelski of Duluth; and Stacy Theacket of California; and 12 great grandchildren.
A Gathering of Family and Friends was held from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Father Eamonn was the celebrant. Music was provided by Regi Garvey and the Holy Angels Choir. Inurnment was held in St. Isidore's Catholic Cemetery, Sturgeon Lake.
