Obituary

Bernard "Bernie" V. Katchmark, 80, of Sturgeon Lake, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 in Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born July 11, 1933 in Windemere Township to Frank and Katie (Kiminski) Katchmark. Bernie was the 5th oldest of 15 children. Bernie is an Army Veteran, serving in Korea from 1953-1955. Bernie was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jeanette Dobosenski on February 23, 1957 in Sturgeon Lake. They shared 56 beautiful years together. Bernie was employed at Conwed-USG for 42 years until retiring in 1995. He was an avid outdoorsman and award winning trapper. He was a lifetime member of Sturgeon Lake-Denham American Legion Post #361. Bernie served 25 years on the Sturgeon Lake Fire Department. He was a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake and was grounds keeper for both the church and cemetery. Bernie loved watching sports and was a great fan of his grandchildren and everything they participated in. Bernie had many other hobbies including, word find books and his favorite paper was Outdoor News.

Bernie is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ted, Willie, Florian, John and David Katchmark, Bernice Granda, Patty Katchmark and JoAnn Danelski.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Katchmark of Sturgeon Lake; 5 daughters, Julie (Terry) Nummela of Moose Lake, Bunny (Tim) Johnsen of Rutledge, Terry (Steve) Loughlin of Rogers, Lynnie (Tim) Neutgens of Rogers and Tina (Ralph) Hager of Scandia; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren plus 1 on the way; siblings, RoseMarie Thrun, Leona Bibeau, Lee Gilbert, Leonard Katchmark, Ginger (Jim) Zezulka and Frank Katchmark; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, December 30, from 9 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
