Betty Mae Bonk, 97, of Pine City , died Friday, August 7, 2020 at Northern Pines Assisted Living, Pine City. Betty was born February 12, 1923 in Salem Township the daughter of Sandford and Mabel Lillo.

Betty attended country school for eight years, until graduating from Rochester High School in 1941. On October 22, 1941 Betty married Walter Bonk in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota. Walter was drafted in the United States Military soon after. Betty moved to California in 1943 to work alongside her parents at a defense plant until Walter returned home from serving his country over seas in 1945.

In 1948 Walter and Betty bought a farm and milk delivery business in Willow River, where they made their home. She spent the majority of those years as a homemaker and book keeper for the farm. Betty enjoyed her time on the farm as a wife and mother. She spent time sewing, reading, and collecting many dolls and bears.

Betty was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Willow River.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Bonk; daughter, Shirley Bonk Lilliberg; her parents; and sister, Dorothy Carpentier.

Betty is survived by her two sons, Dennis (Sandie) Bonk of Rock Creek, MN and Darryl (Margie) Bonk of Danbury, WI; brother, Roger (Elaine) Lillo; grandchildren, Corey (Katia), Jason (Jen) , and great grandson; Sebastjan Bonk; as well as her nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 12:00 PM until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Hamlin – Hansen – Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Willow River.
