Carroll Stayton, 87, Cromwell, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in Villa Vista Care Center in Cromwell.  She was born on March 30, 1931 in Upland, CA to Hugh and Viviette McLellan.  She attended the University of California, Berkeley and then transferred to San Jose State College where she obtained her BA in Library Science.  On June 11, 1955, Carroll married Edward Stayton in San Jose, CA.  In 1968, they moved to Cromwell where they lived on a hobby farm until 2005.  Edward worked for Carlton County's Welfare Department while Carroll was a devoted Mother, Homemaker, and Wife and also worked as a Human Services Technician at the Moose Lake Regional Treatment Center.  She attended the Naomi Bible Study Group at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cromwell and also enjoyed art, painting, and music.  In 2002, Carroll entered Villa Vista Care Center and later transferred to Inter Faith Care Center where she was a resident until moving back to Villa Vista in 2017.

Carroll was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 2013; brother: Thomas McLellan; and sister: Lavonne Bullis.

She will be lovingly remembered by three children: Leonard Stayton of Minneapolis; Gilbert Stayton of Saginaw; and Mary Jo Stayton of Glendale, AZ; a sister: Marian Clemens of Carmel, CA; nieces and nephews: Jeanne Neal of San Diego, CA; Marilyn Baughman of Portland, OR; Jeannie Young of Marina, CA; Gary Bullis of Creswell, OR; Janet Vreeman of Fairbanks, AK; Pamela Clemens of Carmel, CA; David McLellan of Nevada City, CA; and Paul McLellan of Freemont, CA.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10 am in Villa Vista Care Center, Cromwell. in the Dining Room which you can access through the Cardinal Court entrance. Chaplain Todd Carlson will officiate.  Burial will follow at 1 PM on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in Hillside Cemetery, Carlton.
