Obituary

Charles (Charlie) Leslie Davis, age 86, passed away at his home in Moose Lake, MN. He left to meet Cheryl on Thursday, December 25, 2025.
Charles was born on September 25, 1939 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Charles and Nilda Davis. He was the second of five children; Dorothy, Barbara, Helen, and William. He grew up in West Port, Massachusetts and worked alongside his father on their poultry farm until his father passed. Afterwards, Charles had to leave school and work around the area to help support his mother and siblings.
In 1956, Charles and his family moved to Roseville, Minnesota. There Charles married his first wife Phyllis Knudson in 1958. They had four boys; Charles the III, James, Ted and David. In 1968 they divorced. In 1963, he started working for the Armours Meat Packing plant in South St. Paul as a butcher. He worked in every department.
After his divorce Charles continued to work at Armours. One night he and his friends decided to go to Wisconsin, to a place called "Best Place by a Dam Site", where he met Cheryl Booton. On September 28, 1968 Charles and Cheryl were married in South Dakota. They moved to Hastings, MN to start a family, and had two children, Lisa and Paul.
Charles worked many jobs over the years. He was a butcher for ten years at Armours, worked at the photo and jewelry counter for Ecker Drug, then he owned two Shell Stations while living in Florida, he was a janitor for the Carlton County Courthouse, a butcher for Holiday Groceries, a mechanic for Moose Lake CO-OP, car detailer/deliverer for Roos Motors and had many more jobs. Charles loved auctions and he loved a great deal. He loved going to Oklahoma on many trips to buy cars and trailers. He was always up to travel somewhere.
Charles loved going to Oklahoma, John Deere Tractors-anything John Deere, having coffee with friends, and disputing which was better; Chevy or Ford. He always picked Chevy-except for that one Ford he had-his 65 Fastback Mustang. He could make a friend wherever he went. He would just start talking to someone, no matter who they were, and the next thing you knew-they were a lifelong friend. Charles loved his family and loved being with them.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Cheryl Davis, son Ted Wagner, grandson Ted Jr. Wagner, sisters Helen Davis and Dorothy Buecksler, and brother William Davis, brother-in-law Jack Buecksler, brother-in-law Jack Lewis and brother-in-law Gary Herrman.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family; daughter Lisa (Troy) Radzak; grandchildren: Max and Maddie Radzak; son Paul John Davis; son Charles III (Kathy) Davis; grandchildren: Charles IV Davis, Paul (Jessica) great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Elizabeth, and Joey Davis; and Angela Davis; son James (Pat) Wagner and son David (Laura) Wagner; grandchildren: Levi and Asher Wagner; daughter-in-law, Audrey Wagner; grandchild; Margie Wagner; sister Barbara (Dennis) Hedtek; sister-in-law Joi Herrman; brother-in-law Ronald Booten; and many nephews and nieces.
