Charles "Chuck" Pace, 80, Sturgeon Lake, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. He was born on September 30, 1939 in Minneapolis to David and Marion Pace. He grew up in Mendota Heights and after high school worked as a heavy equipment operator. On July 12, 1958, Chuck married the love of his life whom he met on a blind date, Nancy Kammerer. In 1960, Chuck and his father started an auto mechanic and towing business called Pace & Sons 66 in West St. Paul which they owned and operated through the years and is currently being operated by his sons as Pace Tire & Service Center. Chuck and Nancy lived in Inver Grove Heights for 38 years. Chuck was a Volunteer Fireman for Inver Grove Heights Fire Department, attended church at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, West St. Paul, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge 1088 in South St. Paul. In 1983, Chuck and Nancy purchased property on Island Lake near Sturgeon Lake, MN and moved to the lake permanently in 2001. They were members at Moose Lake Golf Club and Moose Lodge 479. Chuck had three things in his life that took up his time: "The Farm", the Golf Course, and Nancy, but Nancy was always first! "The Farm" located east of Moose Lake was Chuck's sanctuary were he practiced conservation, hobby farmed, collected and worked on John Deere tractors, and deer hunted. The family's work on the farm earned them a Conservation of the Year Award in 2010 which Chuck was extremely proud of. Chuck will always be remembered for his "golden heart".
He was preceded in death by his parents: David and Marion Pace; and his brother: John Pace.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy; three children: Robert (Patti); Kenneth (Colleen); and Kelly (Mike) Annis; 9 grandchildren: Cory, Cole, Brittany, Courtney, Kevin, Amanda, Logan, Dustin, and Monica; several great grandchildren; a brother: David (Joyce) Pace; sister: Joyce Patey; sister-in-law: Linda Dahlstrom; brother-in-law: Jim (Sharon) Kammerer; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many precious friends.
