Obituary

Charles (Chuck) Smith Jr., 47, of Barnum, Minnesota, passed away in his sleep of a suspected heart attack at his home on October 7th, 2023. Chuck was born on August 3rd,1976 to Charles Richard Smith Sr. and Nancy Klecker in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Owatonna High School with the class of 1996. During High School, he met the love of his life Wendy Marie Warren. After years of being good friends and dating, Chuck and Wendy were married on September 18, 1999. They then made their home in Rochester, MN and together they opened a cleaning business, Helping Hands Home Cleaning, which they owned and operated for 20 years in the Rochester area.

In 2022, Chuck and Wendy relocated to Northern Minnesota to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the woods, state parks, waterfalls, and breathtaking scenery, establishing their new home in Barnum. They had purchased land in 2017 and had been developing the property, including a large garage where Chuck had a full pottery studio, following his dream of being a fulltime professional potter, and have been in the process of building their new house.

Chuck had many passions: the love for the outdoors, hiking, fishing, traveling, art and pottery. He actively contributed to his church community and loved spending time with family and friends, playing board games, and making everyone smile and laugh.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife: Wendy; his father: Charles Richard Smith Sr. (Gracie) of Bock, MN; his mother: Nancy Klecker (Harry) of Geneva, MN; a brother: Franklin Klecker (Lily) of Wilmar, MN; along with beloved in-laws, nephews and many friends.
