Clement Thomas Tomczak, 86, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. He was born November 23, 1924 in Split Rock Township to Martin and Annie (Suchoski) Tomczak.
Clem graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1942. He served as Machinist Mate Third Class in the United States Navy during WWII, from 1944 to 1946. In 1952, Clem was certified as a Journeyman Class C Printer. Clem worked for a time at Tracy Printing in Columbia Heights before moving to Tamarack where he owned and operated Tamarack Printing. Clem served as Mayor of Tamarack for a number of years. He also served as Fire Warden in Aitkin County for over 35 years. Clem was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in McGregor. Clem enjoyed hunting and fixing things. He always had a project that he was working on. Clem also enjoyed watching his nephews play football in high school and college, often traveling many miles to see them play.
Clem is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cecelia Angell; brothers, Frank, Mike, Robert and John Tomczak.
Clem is survived by his brothers, Theodore of Kettle River and Stanley of Grasston; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Friday, July 8, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Split Rock Township. Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Split Rock Township. Casket Bearers were Daryl Tomczak, Jim Tomczak, John Tomczak, Brodie Tomczak, Phillip Hockensmith and Bill Tomczak.
