Clifford Bruce Swanson, 67, of Barnum passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his home.  He was born June 26, 1949 in Minneapolis to Erland and Louise (Hammitt) Swanson.  Clifford was a golden gloves boxer and also played football during his high school days.  Clifford was united in marriage to Renee Flynn on August 9, 1980 in Mahtowa.  Renee and Clifford dairy farmed for 19 years.  Clifford also was a truck driver and dispatcher for Holiday.  He also worked at Potlatch for 13 years.  Clifford was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting (turkey and deer), camping and being on the water. He was known for going on "ride abouts" everyday looking for deer and turkey.  He also enjoyed his farm, family and lots of friends.  Clifford loved watching the Vikings and Twins.  Clifford was always pulling jokes on people and was known for his infectious laugh.  He will be dearly missed.

Clifford is preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Sandra Swanson and Kathleen Brown.

Clifford is survived by his loving wife, Renee; 2 sons, James Swanson of Mount Morris, IL and Ward (Melissa) Swanson of Eden Prairie; 2 daughters, Kelli (Doug) Matzek of Hudson, WI and Kristi (Cody) Gebhardt of Brainerd; grandchildren, Heather (Cory) Fleming, Amanda Swanson, Emma Swanson, Jake Swanson, Henry Matzek, Charlie Matzek, Aviva Matzek and Oliver Gebhardt; brother, Larry Swanson of Barnum; sister, Sherry (Glenn) Johnston of Excelsior; several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, April 15, from 10 AM until the Noon Memorial Service in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.


A luncheon will follow in the Barnum Community Center, Barnum.
