Connie A. Glattly, 86, of Willow River, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital after a brave battle with mesothelioma. She was born on October 4, 1939, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Bernard and Anna Binard and grew up in Denver, CO. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Denver and attended Loretto Heights College for a year before beginning a long and distinguished career with United Airlines in 1960. She later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she met Richard Glattly. The two married on October 8, 1977, and made their home in Richfield, Minnesota, until retiring in 2000 and then moved to Willow River, Minnesota, where they enjoyed their golden years surrounded by the beauty of the river and the great outdoors.
Connie had many interests and shared her time and talents generously. She was a member of the local garden club, an election judge, and served as Treasurer for both the Pine County Genealogical Society and Norman Township for many years. She also enjoyed woodworking and attended Hennepin Tech classes to develop the skills needed to build the cabinets for her home. She participated in the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Operation Nest Watch, recording the nesting results of wood duck boxes around her home. She also spent many years researching genealogy and indexing cemeteries, helping families reconnect with their loved ones. Her efforts took her through cemeteries across the country, where she logged many hours assisting others in finding final resting places.
Connie and Richard enjoyed morning cribbage matches and other card games, including weekly tournaments at the Corral Bar and the Finlayson Municipal Bar. They also loved fishing and traveled to Hawk Lake Lodge east of Kenora, Canada; Reel-Em-Inn on Lake of the Woods, Canada; and Yakutat, Alaska, for salmon and halibut fishing.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Anna Binard and is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years: Richard; daughter: Letitia (Susan) Rae Smith; son: Jeffrey Scott Glattly; daughter: Leslie (Walter) Smith; daughter: Pamela (Howard) Odor; brother: Thomas Binard; grandchildren: Alex Glattly, Spencer and Shelby Smith, Ifeoma and Isieoma Odor; nieces: Elizabeth Binard Berry, Katrina Binard Walker and Ivonna Hinton.
Connie’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the incredible team of doctors, oncologists, nurses, nursing assistants, and palliative care providers at Essentia St. Mary’s in Sandstone and Duluth.
