Cynthia (Cindy) Ann Agurkis of Moose Lake, MN passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Cindy was born on June 22, 1941, in St. Paul, MN. She was the daughter of the late Harris Johnson and Leona (Gebhard) Johnson.
Cindy graduated from Harding High School and went on to earn a registered nursing degree from Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She met her future husband, Larry, after relocating to Moose Lake to complete her nursing residency. Cindy was a kind and compassionate caregiver who utilized her skills at Mercy Nursing Home.
Cindy and Larry, who were married on April 11, 1964, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Throughout those years, she was more than a devoted wife and mother. She was a friend, mentor, and pillar of strength. In her spare time, Cindy enjoyed gardening, reading, bird-watching, and caring for her pets. She loved the sound of waves and her passion for travel often led her to destinations near water.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Larry V. Agurkis of Moose Lake, MN; three children, Paul (Brenda) Agurkis of Cohasset, MN, John (Lars Husom) Agurkis of Minneapolis, MN, and Julie Agurkis of Washington, DC; one brother, Robert (Kathy) Johnson of McGregor, MN; and two grandchildren, Rachel Agurkis of Duluth, MN and Nicole Agurkis of Cohasset, MN.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23, from Noon until the 1 PM Service in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.

Memorials are preferred to the Moose Lake Library or the Arrowhead Library System in Cynthia's memory.
