Daniel Steven Sobczak, 79, of Sturgeon Lake, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at his home. He was born March 6, 1936 in Moose Lake to Steven and Elizabeth (Jurek) Sobczak. Daniel was a veteran of The United States Marine Corp, serving from 1955 to 1958. Daniel was united in marriage to Susan Whiting on August 15, 1959 in Mason City, IA. Daniel worked for the Elliott Meat Packing Company for 35 years and for the State Highway Department for 15 years. He enjoyed deer hunting, the outdoors and especially spending time with family and friends.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathy Sobczak; granddaughter, Ashley Ann Sobczak; sister, Irene Kiminski; brother, David Sobczak.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Susan Sobczak of Sturgeon Lake; children Laurie (Brady) Lyons of Barnum, Debra Curtis of Duluth, JoAnn (Kevin) Van Vickle of Cold Spring, David (Jessie) Sobczak of Carlton and Daniel (Lisa) Sobczak of Hermantown; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Dahl of Wrenshall, Francis (Gene) Engdahl of Monteagle, TN, Shirley Anderson of Grand Marais, Betty (Phil) Nelson of Rice, Delores (Bill) Warner of North Branch and Pat (Johnny) Swarmer of Beroun; brother, John (Debbie) Sobczak of San Diego, CA; many nieces and nephews.
