Darlene G. Peterson, 91, of Moose Lake, died peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Moose Lake Village.  She was born at home in Barnum Township to Hjalmer and Gertrude (Thieling) Skoglund on April 18, 1934.  Darlene attended Central School, east of Barnum and helped her parents on the family dairy farm.  On July 26, 1952, Darlene married Allen Peterson in Moose Lake.  They lived in Silver Twp., Carlton County where they farmed.  Darlene was a homemaker and mother through the years.  She worked as a seasonal worker at the General Andrews Nursery in Willow River.  Darlene worked as a clerk for Macaulay's Clothing Store in Moose Lake for 10 years and also as a clerk for Moose Lake Co-op for over 30 years.  After retiring, Darlene volunteered at the Sonshine Closet in Moose Lake.  She was a member of the Moose Lake Evangelical Covenant Church where she was involved with the Ladies Aide and Covenant Women in her younger years.  Darlene enjoyed the outdoors driving tractors and was always helping her sons by raking hay for them.  She also liked reading, scrapbooking, riding bike, and learning about family history by doing  genealogy. Her number one love was her family, and she really enjoyed her grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Allen in 1993; son: Allen Dale Peterson in 1953; son: Ricky Peterson in 2016; parents: Hjalmer and Gertrude Skoglund; brothers: Jalmer "Dick" Skoglund and Clements Skoglund; and sisters: Florabel Lundquist and Judy Westerberg.

Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her son: Russell (Renee) Peterson; daughter-in-law: Cheryl Peterson; grandchildren: Sarah (Steve) Aldrich, Matt (Katie) Delly, Ryan (Jasmine) Peterson, Tyler (Amber Asbach) Peterson, Makaela (Tom) Hattenberger, Nicholas (Alyssa) Peterson, Chantel (Zachary) Wolak, and Zachariah Peterson; great grandchildren: Stella, Jack, and Henry Aldrich, Olivia and Emmett Delly, Winona Peterson, and two more on the way; special Godchild Dawn Westerberg and her granddaughter Agathenia Darlene; and numerous brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service on Friday, February 20, 2026, in the Moose Lake Evangelical Covenant Church.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake directly following the service.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to St. Croix Hospice, Moose Lake Village, and Essentia Moose Lake.
