Dave Waldow

Dave Waldow, 61, Sturgeon Lake, died tragically from injuries sustained in a farm accident involving his Holstein bull.


He was born October 4, 1947 in Moose Lake to Alvin and Louise Waldow. He grew up in Windemere Township and at the age of two he began a lifelong passion of farming with his father. Dave graduated from Moose Lake High School and later attended college at UMD for a short time. He worked construction and also drove truck. Dave started up farming again on the family homestead with beef cattle. He later started dairy farming which he was currently operating. Dave loved going to town for coffee at Lou's in Barnum, deer hunting, dancing, and watching football.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Louise Waldow; brother: John Waldow;
nephew: Jason Gerard; and a niece: Julie Waldow.

Dave will be remembered by his brother: Jerome (Sharon) Waldow of Alexandria; sister: Jane (Robert) Gerard of Willow River; nieces and nephews: Sherri Hane; Jon (Therese) Waldow; Becky (Jeff) Moran; Michelle Dembowski; Daniel Gerard; and Wendy (Scott) Calhoun; and great niece and great nephews: Ashley Hane; Luke Waldow; Brandon Dembowski; and Michael Dembowski.

A Gathering of Family and Friends was held from 12:00 Noon on Monday, June 15, 2009 until the 1:00 PM service which did Celebrate Dave's Life in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Pastor Jan Mehlhoff was the officiate. Music was provided by Lee Mogen, Becky Moran, and Mary Rose Varo. A private scattering of Dave's ashes will be held on Dave's farm.
