David John Otis Christy, "Odie", 30, Sturgeon Lake, died Monday, August 31, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. David was born on July 16, 1979 in Moose Lake. He grew up in Split Rock Twp. and attended Moose Lake High School graduating in 1998. David worked as a fitter for Brothers Fire Protection. In 2001, David was involved in a four wheeler accident that left him paralyzed. Although the accident took away his ability to walk, it didn't take away his determination and courage. David began attending Lake Superior College and attained his A.A.S. Degree in Computer Aided Design Engineering Technology and began working as a project manager for Brothers Fire Protection. He also enjoyed his hobbies of playing cards, cooking, hunting, golfing, and bowling. David loved being "Uncle Odie" and playing with his nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his sister, Denise Marie Christy; maternal grandparents: Morris and Evelyn Taylor; and his paternal grandfather: Dennis H. Christy.

He will be lovingly remembered by his father: Dennis Christy of Sturgeon Lake; his mother: Joan (Tony) Peterson of Warroad; brothers: Tim (Deanna) Christy of Andover and Nate (Becky) Christy of Willow River; sister: Heather (Doug) Larson of Sturgeon Lake; paternal grandmother: Bette Christy of Minneapolis; his nieces and nephews: Tristan Christy, Tyler Christy, Rachel Christy, Sarah Christy, and Runo Larson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation was from 5-8 PM Thursday, September 3, 2009 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Cremation did follow the visitation. A Gathering of Family and Friends was held from Noon until the 1 PM Memorial Service on Friday, September 4, 2009 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Inurnment was at 4 PM Friday in Nordland Cemetery, Birch Creek Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
