David O. Patterson

Dave Patterson, 76, Rutledge, died peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2014 at his home with his family by his side.  He was born on July 21, 1937 in Denham to Orville and Agatha Patterson.  Dave grew up in Rutledge where he attended school and later attended Willow River High School.  He worked in the Twin Cities prior to serving in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959.  On June 11, 1966, Dave married Janet Ardell Beehler in Scanlon, MN.  Dave received a Computer Science Degree from Control Data in 1968 and later an Accounting Degree from Pine Technical College.  He worked through the years as a heavy equipment operator, Coop Manager in Finlayson, station owner and census worker while pursuing numerous business ventures.  Dave also was a councilman and mayor amongst his civic duties.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading, gardening, and was a great storyteller.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws: Clarence Martin and Norm Wayne; and a sister-in-law: Mike Wayne.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Janet; four children: September (Rick) Patterson of Sandstone; Mary Patterson of Finlayson; Marty (Kristy) Patterson of Rutledge; and Denise (Chris) Baran of Hinckley; four grandchildren: Lauren Hooker, Logan Hooker, Cole Baran, and Iris Patterson; brother: Donald (Dorothy) Patterson of Willow River; sister: Patricia Martin of Grand Marais; aunt: Francis Neiman and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from Noon until the 2 PM Memorial Service on Friday, May 9, 2014 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.  Military services will follow the memorial service at the funeral home.  A time of fellowship and luncheon will be held at the Rutledge Community Center following the services.
