Dawn Elaine Metso

Dawn Elaine Metso, 65, of Kettle River, died suddenly on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.  She was born on May 24, 1952 in Silver Spring, Maryland to George and Althea Seek.  Dawn grew up in Hyattsville, MD where she attended school.  She later attended beauty school.  On May 6, 1972, Dawn married Jack Metso in Hyattsville. They lived in Maryland for 3 years and then moved to Kettle River in 1975.  They dairy farmed through the years and Dawn did hairdressing and operated several little craft shops and a ceramics studio.  She also waitressed and managed at a few area restaurants.  Dawn volunteered at 4-H, Moose Lake and Barnum Schools, and taught ceramics for the Community Ed Program.  She was a member of the Birthday Club as well as Homemakers Club.  Dawn loved going to bingo, sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, and will forever be remembered for her cinnamon rolls.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judith Harris.

Dawn will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Jack; 5 children: Michelle (Darrel) Metso-Berry of Barnum; Althea (Robert) Dahl of Cromwell; Donald (Angie) Metso of Carver; Melissa (Thomas) Akurugo of Blaine; and Alexis Metso of Kettle River; her grandchildren: Elizabith, Julieanna, Carly, Matthew, Jasmine, Bode, Victoria, Cooper, and Anessa; niece: Lori (John) Carbaugh of Gettysburg, PA; nephews: Charlie (Dina) Harris and Joseph (Kelly) Harris both of Maryland; numerous other nieces, nephews, and very special friends. Dawn was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first great grandchild in March 2018.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10 am until the 11 am service on Monday, August 7, 2017 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
