Delores V. Johnson, 95, Kerrick, died Sunday, July 12, 2026 at her home where she loved to garden and nurture animals through the years. She was born on March 17, 1931 in Clear Creek Twp., Carlton County where she grew up. Delores graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1949 and then attended St. Luke’s Nursing School in Duluth. Delores worked as an RN specializing in OB/GYN at the Eitel Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. Through the years, Delores worked at several hospitals in Minnesota as she moved throughout the state following her husband at construction jobs. In 1959, they moved to Moose Lake Twp. where they dairy farmed through the years. Delores worked for many years as a Charge Nurse at Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. Her house was often referred to as the “Koecher Clinic” as she would help family and neighbors through different medical situations. Delores was a member at Oak Lake Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. Her love for animals often brought calves and deer into the home for extra care. Delores was a Fire Warden for the State of Minnesota for over 50 years. She will long be remembered for her love to bake and her famous Swedish Tea Rolls which were a favorite item at Oak Lake Bake Sales.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 2015; her parents: Charles and Florence Nelson; and her brother: Dr. Clayton Nelson.
Delores will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Giselle (Kenneth) Allison; Curtis (Peggy) Johnson; and Joan (Kerry) Perrin; five grandchildren: Dr. Kate Allison and her husband Dr. Erich Hoover; Keli Allison, Ryan Johnson, Amanda Taylor, and Katlyn Johnson; five great grandchildren: Kenneth, Sam, Landen, Jeremiah, and Dhiren; brother: Kenneth (Myrna) Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10 am until the 11 am service on Friday, July 17, 2026 in Oak Lake Lutheran Church, Kerrick. Private inurnment will be in Nickerson Cemetery, Nickerson, MN.
