Dennis "Danny" Anthony Pietrek, 68, of Sturgeon Lake, formerly of Blaine and San Diego, CA passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. He was born May 24, 1946 in Minneapolis to Edward and Helen (Chmielewski) Pietrek. Dennis graduated from Willow River High School before attending Northwest Electronics Institute. Dennis is a veteran of The United States Army, serving from 1970-1972. He was united in marriage to Alice Wevley on May 18, 1974 in Morris. Dennis was a Groundskeeper for both the Twins and the Vikings at the old Met Stadium as well as a computer analyst at Unisys for 40 years. Dennis was a member of Knights of Columbus and St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and visiting and joking with family and friends.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Frank Jirik.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Alice Pietrek of Sturgeon Lake; 2 sons, Joseph (Chalone) Pietrek of Prior Lake and Dr. James (Kim) Pietrek of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Anthony and Brooks Pietrek; brother, Jerome (Carole) Pietrek of Peoria, AZ; sister, Sharon Jirik of Lakeville; numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, November 7, from 11 AM until the Noon Mass of Christian Burial in St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake.

Inurnment will be in St. Isidore's Catholic Cemetery, Sturgeon Lake. Military Honors provided by Sturgeon Lake-Denham American Legion Post #361.

Honorary Bearers are Greg Pietrek, Scott Jirik, Scott Swanson, Gordie Markstrom, John Orvedahl and Dan Kostecky.
