Obituary

Dennis L. Horton, Sr.

Dennis L. Horton, Sr., 74, Kettle River, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.  He was born to Oliver and Ellen Horton on August 19, 1944 in Blackduck, MN as the youngest of 13 children.  He was an Army Veteran and had been stationed in Augsburg, Germany, serving from 1965 to 1967.  In 1967, he married Pamela Pilloud.  He was later baptized that year with his infant son in Bemidji at Earl and Frances Pilloud's home.  Dennis worked at USG in Cloquet and lived in Kettle River.  He loved his grandchildren.  Dennis liked helping people in a time of need, watching Westerns and boxing on TV, listening to old country music, playing guitar with the Moonlight Ramblers, and taking a trip to the casino.  His true passion was being outdoors where he truly enjoyed deer hunting and fishing walleyes.  Dennis will always be remembered for wanting to get a reaction out of someone while picking on them with his sense of humor.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents: Oliver and Ellen Horton; infant great grandson: Maverick Haglin; brothers: Chuck Horton, Delmor Horton, and Carl Horton; sisters: Jane Larson, Lula Scott, Olive Kuhlman, and Rose Locken.

He will be lovingly remembered by his four children: Dennis, Jr. (Allison) Horton of Kettle River; Nicole Kachinske of Moose Lake; Carla (Nicholas) Morris of Kettle River; and Clinton Horton of Barnum; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother: Oliver "Sonny" Horton of Blackduck; sisters: Margie Korpi of Kettle River; Edie Jokimaki of Kettle River; Judy Tillotson of International Falls; and Betty Moon of Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
