Dewey Alan Anderson, born April 25, 1944 to Newell C. & Christine (Thoen) Anderson, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by family on November 25th, 2014.
Dewey graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1962. He was very active in 4-H, earning many trips to the MN State Fair with his prize Jersey cows. Later in life he enjoyed working with his boys on their many 4-H projects.
Dewey served in the United States Army at Fort Wainwright, Alaska in the Transportation Motor Pool, as an SP 4 from 1966-1968. Returning home, Dewey put himself through St. Cloud Tech by driving school bus for the city of St. Cloud. Dewey graduated college with a welding degree.
In 1970, Dewey took over the family farm in Moose Lake where he raised Black Angus cattle and various other livestock. Dewey spent a lifetime building the family farm into a business that sustained his family. His ingenuity and passion for agriculture resulted in many innovations never before seen in Carton County.
In addition to farming, Dewey also drove school bus for Moose Lake School for 25 years. In total, Dewey drove over a million accident free miles. He loved all the children and their families on his various routes. Dewey loved telling stories about the wonderful experiences he had with them; one favorite, being the end of year ice cream treat he gave to the kids at the farm before bringing them home.
In 2000, Dewey & Dianne moved to Forsythe, MO where he worked primarily as a security officer at the Powersite Hydroelectric Plant. In 2002, they moved back to the farm and Dewey started making soybean candles. He enjoyed going to craft shows where he sold the candles and made many lifelong friends.
Dewey enjoyed helping out his friends and neighbors by plowing out their driveways, tilling up their garden plots, and anything else they needed help with. His favorite was time spent visiting with people over a cup of hot cocoa. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading various farm and country magazines and his Bible. Dewey's favorite Bible verse was John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. He loved having conversations with people about his Lord.
Dewey is preceded in death by his parents Newell & Christine (Thoen) Anderson; his brothers Lavern, Dale & Clair Anderson and sisters Arlene Snyder & Elaine Woodruff.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Dianne Irene (Port); His sons and their families: Jason, Colleen, Carlee, and Caidan; Ben, Angie, Nicole, Sydney, Joshua and Levi; Matthew, Kelly, Makenna, Emma, and Oliver; His sisters: Janice Berglund of Grand Marais, MN & Sonja (Dick) Grahn of Spring, Texas.
