Donald Frank Cisar
Donald Frank Cisar, 87, Willow River, died peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018 at his home. He was born on October 4, 1930 in Birch Creek Twp. to Frank and Georgianne Cisar. Don grew up in Birch Creek Twp. and attended District 107 and later Willow River High School. He worked on the family farm and hauled milk. He was an incredibly proud Army Veteran. Don met his wife Lore in Germany and they were married on January 2, 1954 in Pine City. Don worked for Minnegasco in the Twin Cities for over 35 years. He also was on the Fridley Police Commission, drove taxi, was a DJ at a radio station, and played accordion in NE Mpls. During his younger years, he loved riding his motorcycle. After his retirement, Don moved back to Birch Creek Twp. He was a State Fire Warden for over 25 years. Don was a Life Member of the Sturgeon Lake-Denham American Legion Post #361, Life Member of the VFW, and Life Member of the Disabled Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lore in 1992; sister: Shirley Kiminski; grandson: Alex Burke; and a son-in-law: Mark Newman.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his 6 children: Frank (Diane) Cisar of Isanti; Renee (Lawrence) Newman of Ramsey; Kathy (Patrick) Burke of Princeton; Monica Paxton of Cloquet; Thomas Cisar of Willow River; and Lilliane (Calvin) Ulmer of New Hope; 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; siblings: Ken Cisar of Willow River; Bob (Sandy) Cisar of Moose Lake; Duane (Pauline) Cisar of Sturgeon Lake; Donnamae Sheforgen of Ramsey; and Sandy (Duane) Olson of Two Harbors; and brother-in-law: Jake Kiminski of Sturgeon Lake.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am funeral service on Friday, January 26, 2018 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Lunch will follow the service. Burial with Military Honors by the Sturgeon Lake – Denham American Legion will be at 1:30 PM in Sunnyside Cemetery, Willow River.
