Donna F. Gilbert

Donna F. Gilbert, 82, Sturgeon Lake, died suddenly on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.  She was born on September 4, 1936 in Minneapolis to Edwin and Inez Nicholson.  Donna grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School in 1954.  She attended LPN training at the University of MN.  In 1957, Donna moved to rural Kettle River where she farmed and was a homemaker.  She later lived in the Moose Lake and Sturgeon Lake areas.  Donna attended Evangelical Covenant Church and their Bible Study.  Donna had an incredible passion for her pet dogs throughout her life.  She loved spending time with family, gardening, reading, journaling, photography, bird watching, fishing, being outdoors, baking, participating in bible studies and visiting relatives and friends.  Donna liked watching the Minnesota Twins.  She was always very loving, caring, and happy.  Donna was extremely grateful for the love of her life, Darryll whom she married on September 7, 1985 in Ely.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Inez Nicholson and brother: Dean Nicholson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 33 years, Darryll; 5 children: Brenda (Richard) Adams of Frankton, CO; Audrey Rhodes of Brainerd; David (Nadia) Johansen of Brainerd; Laura Munson of Esko; Ruth Meier of Fairbanks, AK; 4 step-children: Allen Gilbert of Spicer; Melinda Jacobson of Barnum; Michelle (Doug) Evenson of Pennock, MN; and Connie Evenson of Benson; brother: Darrel (Sandi Sevre) Nicholson of Minneapolis; 9 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; and numerous friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service on Monday, April 29, 2019 in Evangelical Covenant Church, Moose Lake.
