Doris Bernice Berner, 97, Independence, MO, formerly of Moose Lake, MN died peacefully on June 21 ^st , 2022 in Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence. She was born in Moose Lake on July 9 ^th , 1924 to George and Esther (Nordin) Peterson.

After high school she left Moose Lake and moved out to Los Angeles, California where she met her husband, Robert, who was in the Navy.  They were married on July 16 ^th , 1959.

Doris enjoyed quilting and sewing as well as cooking and collecting recipe books from all over her travels.  She loved spending time with her family and getting together over the years with her siblings on many vacation trips to Minnesota and California.

She spent the last 20 years living in Independence Missouri near her daughter, grandson, and great grandchildren. She was a kind, generous, and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Berner; parents, George and Esther Peterson; sisters, Laverne Peterson, Irene Clothier, Rose Skelton and Lorraine Weaver; and brothers, Parnell, Perry and Earl Peterson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karen (Matthew) Pinick; grandson, Bryan Pinick; and three great-grandchildren, BryCyn, Brantley, and Brynlee Pinick, all of Independence, MO.

A gathering of family and friends will be held in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home on Thursday, June 30 ^th , 2022 from 10:00am until 10:45am, followed by a procession to Riverside Cemetery, Moose Lake, for an 11:00am graveside ceremony.
