Obituary

Doris A. Pince, 87, Willow River, died peacefully on Monday, January 1, 2024 in St. Therese at St. Odilia in Shoreview, following complications of a stroke.  She was born on January 14, 1936 in Bremen Twp., Pine County to William and Florence Mecl.  She attended Ellison School, a one room schoolhouse until 4th grade, then attended Willow River High School graduating in 1954.  On September 25, 1954, Doris married Robert "Gene" Pince in Willow River.  They lived in Duluth for a short time before moving to Brooklyn Center where they raised their family. Doris' nurturing hands were always at use, operating an in-home daycare then working as a Nurses Aid at Saint Therese in New Hope for 20 years until she retired.  Doris and Gene enjoyed their retirement by returning to their stomping grounds in Bremen Twp in 1998. They enjoyed four wheeling, deer hunting, and gardening together. Doris was an avid sewer and embroiderer and in her later years, she enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, being outside, watching airplanes, and listening to Polka music. Doris' Catholic faith was important to her, and she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Willow River.

She was preceded in death by husband: Gene in 2009; daughter Doreen in 2017; infant son: Gregory; and siblings: Vera Larson, Ed Mecl, and Eileen Mechtel.

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Debbie Pince; Diane (Mike) Lindenfelser, and Dave Pince; grandchildren: Michael (Marianne) Lindenfelser, Christine (Justin) Blackstead, Nicole Pince, and Josh Pince; great grandchildren: Nora, Jude, Gwen, and Jack; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from Noon until the 1 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Sunday, January 7, 2024 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Willow River.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Willow River.
