Doris J. Ward

Doris J. Ward, 85, Moose Lake, died peacefully Friday, March 9, 2018 in Oakview Assisted Living, Moose Lake.  She was born on February 8, 1933 in Blackhoof Twp. to Clarence and Ethel Larson.  Doris moved with her family to Mahtowa where she grew up and attended school.  She later attended Barnum High School graduating in 1951.  On October 7, 1951, Doris married Paul M. Ward in Salem Lutheran Church in Mahtowa.  They lived in the Twin Cities where Doris worked for Brown and Bigelow.  They later moved to Mankato until moving back to the area and residing in Wrenshall and lastly, Mahtowa.  Doris was known for being energetic and outgoing with a great sense of humor.  Doris loved gardening, playing cards, was a fabulous cook, and loved to entertain and have company over.  Her family will mostly remember the great love she had for them and for the tremendous wife, mother, and grandmother she was.

She was preceded in death by her son: Gregory Ward on February 9, 1980; two brothers: Darwin Larson and Donald Larson; a sister: Dianne Johnson; and a son-in-law: Thomas Grunewald.

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 66 years, Paul; son: Paul D. "PD" (Idell) Ward of Barnum; 4 daughters: Debra (Mel) Graupmann of Owatonna; Cheryl Grunewald of Blaine; Julianne Sweetland of Dallas, TX; and Theresa (Joe) Curtis of Rockwall, TX; 15 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday, March 16, 2018 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continue from 10 am until the 11 am service on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Barnum Community Church.  Spring Burial will be in Mount Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Mahtowa.
