Dorothea VanGuilder, 83, Holyoke, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 16, 2022.  She was born on August 21, 1939 to Joseph and Helen Kirzeder in Albion, Nebraska.  In 1942, the family moved to Wahpeton, ND and in 1956 they moved to Holyoke.  Dorothy graduated from Wrenshall High School in 1957.  She worked as a nurse's aide at St. Mary's in Duluth.  On June 6, 1959, Dorothy married Karl VanGuilder in Kerrick and they lived in the Holyoke area.  Dorothy was a seasonal worker at General Andrews Tree Nursery and a homemaker through the years.  She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake.  Dorothy's greatest love was her family and she truly cherished all the moments with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl in 2007; parents: Joseph and Helen Kirzeder; son: Thomas VanGuilder; sister: Mary; and a brother: Steven.

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her 6 children: Joseph (Janice) VanGuilder; Jeanine Dibeler; Theresa (David) Routon; David VanGuilder; Carol (Paul) Schuster; and Gregory (Delia) VanGuilder; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 8 siblings: Peggy Hildebrandt; Rose SanFillippo; Joseph Kirzeder; Joann Jensen; James Kirzeder; Helen Kirzeder; Betty Cramer; and Patty Warner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Burial will follow in Nickerson Cemetery, Nickerson.
