Obituary

Edith Genevieve Connor, 87, of Barnum, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 in The Villages of North Branch. She was born April 17, 1922 in Ellendale to Charles and Salome (Gorring) Calverley. During her college years, Edith belonged to the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. Edith was united in marriage to Clarence "Milton" Connor on August 19, 1950 in Owatonna. Edith began her teaching years in a 1 room school house in southern Minnesota. She then taught for the Barnum School District from 1951 until retiring in 1986. Edith was a member of the Barnum Community United Methodist Church. She was an avid doll collector and restorer and also made dolls. Edith belonged to Shades of Time Doll Club of Cloquet, the Cloquet Miniature Group and the North Star Doll Collector Group. Edith was also involved in the Little Red School House at the Carlton County Fair. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Milton; her parents; 2 sisters, Martha and Gertie; 3 brothers, Bob, Victor and John; several friends.

Edith is survived by 2 sons, Michael (Jana) Connor of North Branch and Mitch (Sue) Connor of Barnum; 1 daughter, Cynthia, (Dan) Johnson of North Branch; grandchildren, Amanda (Ben) Anderson, Shane Connor, Amy (Randy) Scott, Tyler Connor, Adrienne (Erik) Stegmeir, Rebecca Johnson and Emily Johnson; great grandchildren, Connor Anderson, Eleanor Stegmeir and Weston Stegmeir; 1 brother, Jim (Laverne) Calverley of Albert Lea; 1 sister, Margaret "Peggy" Heidtke of Owatonna; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 29, from 5 – 7 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continued on Thursday, July 30, from 1 until the 2 PM service in Barnum Community United Methodist Church, Barnum.
