Edith Jokimaki, of Moose Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Moose Lake, Minnesota. She was born in Blackduck, Minnesota, to Oliver and Ellen Horton.

Edith married the love of her life, Nestor Jokimaki, on October 29, 1955, in Moose Lake, Minnesota. Together, they built a loving family and shared many wonderful years.

Edith was a hardworking woman who took great pride in everything she did. She worked for 23 years as a housekeeper at the State Hospital. After retiring from the State Hospital, Edith wasn't quite ready to slow down. She went on to work at the casino, where she worked the midnight shift from the age of 70 until she was 80. She continued working until her doctor finally told her, “Mrs. Jokimaki, it’s time for you to stop working and retire.” Even then, Edith remained active and involved with her family and the things she enjoyed.

Edith had many talents and interests. She loved to knit, embroider, and could can just about anything. She also enjoyed going to the casino and spending time watching the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. One of her greatest joys was caring for her grandchildren. She spent many years watching and caring for the children in her family and treasured the time she spent with them.

Edith was incredibly proud of her children and loved listening to their music. Her family was the most important part of her life, and she cherished the many memories they made together.

Edith is survived by her children, Barbie (Mark) Lund, Randy (Carmen) Jokimaki, and David (Raenese) Jokimaki; daughter-in-law Linda Jokimaki; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her sisters, Margie and Betty.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nestor Jokimaki; daughter Kathy Pearson; son Ronald Jokimaki; and grandson Ron Lehti Jr.

A Celebration of Life for Edith will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Soo Line Event Center, 900 Folz Blvd, Moose Lake, MN. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by fellowship until 5:00 p.m.
