Edward Oscar Johnson, 91, of Kerrick, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015 at his home. He was born December 27, 1923 in Little Falls to Edward and Ethel (Swanson) Johnson. Edward moved to the Stacy/North Branch area as a child and later moved to rural Kerrick with family and helped with farming, cutting timber and clearing land. Edward joined the Navy and was a gunner on a troop ship during WWII. He was in Iwo Jima, Salomon Island and Leyte Gulf Philippine. After Edward was discharged he became a heavy equipment operator. He also groomed snowmobile trails and built campgrounds and roads. He was a member of Oak Lake Lutheran Church, Kerrick, I.U.O.E. Local #49, Fire Warden for 53 years, D.A.V. and Salty Society of Shellbacks. Edward was united in marriage to Delores Nelson on June 27, 1953 in Kerrick.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter and 1 sister, Faye Nowak.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 61 ½ years, Delores Johnson; children, Curtis (Peggy) Johnson, Giselle (Kenneth) Allison and Joan (Kerry) Perrin; 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Katlyn, Courtney, Kate (Erick) and Keli; sister, Violet (John) Clinton; brother, Glen (Anne) Johnson; brother-in-law, Robert Nowak; nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, February 13, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service in Oak Lake Lutheran Church, Kerrick.
