Elizabeth "Bette" Mary Gassert

Elizabeth "Bette" Gassert, 83, of Moose Lake, entered into eternal rest on May 29, 2010.

She joins her beloved Husband of almost 61 years, Dick, who passed away just 15 days prior to Bette. Her loving children know their parents could not live apart, and were meant to be together.

Bette was born on September 24, 1926 to Roy and Mary (Lucas) Gram. She grew up in Nashwauk, MN. She graduated from Hibbing General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.

Bette enjoyed travel, walking, fishing, crocheting, reading, and playing cards. Bette was a devout Catholic and spent many hours volunteering and enjoying Church activities.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Bette worked as a R.N. at Moose Lake Community Hospital and was one of the original staff at Mercy Hospital and Healthcare, where she worked until her retirement.

Bette was preceded in death by her Husband, Dick; her parents; her sister: Joyce Fiskewold; and her brother: Roy Gram.

She is survived by sons: David (Jan) Gassert of Kerrick and Roger Gassert of Barnum; Daughters:
Jane Gassert of Vadnais Heights, MN; Peggy (John) VanAllen of Delano, MN; Chris (Jeff) Gassert-Hogan of Milwaukie, OR; Barbie (Steve) Johnson-Rosenow of Lakeville, MN; and Patti (Bruce) Bong of Excelsior, MN; 16 Grandchildren; and 8 Great Grandchildren.

A Rosary Service was held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 7 PM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. A Gathering of Family and Friends was on Thursday, June 3 from 10 AM until the Noon Memorial Mass at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Private Family Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
