Obituary

Emily E. Nalezny, 99, Moose Lake, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Moose Lake Village.  She was born on February 16, 1924 in Birch Creek Township, Pine County to James and Lillian Dolezal.  Emily grew up in the Willow River/Denham area and graduated from Willow River High School in 1942.  After graduating, she moved to Excelsior, MN where she found work at the Glen Lake Hospital before moving to San Jose, CA where she entered San Jose Community College.  In 1948, she married Harry Ramsey who died on December 28, 1956.  Emily worked at Elder Buick Motors and later was employed by Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. until January of 1957.  She left California and drove the Hart Highway (currently the Alcan Highway) with her sister and family to Anchorage, AK where she found work as a telephone operator at the Alaska Air Command, Elmendorf Air Force Base in the Distant Early Warning Post.  Emily moved back to Minnesota in 1961 and she married Edward Nalezny.  They resided in Minneapolis where she worked at Northrup King Seed Company as an assembly line operator.  She and Edward moved back to Willow River in 1983 and after Edward's death on July 28, 2002, she moved to Moose Lake.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its CCW.  Emily enjoyed gardening, canning, and working crosswords and jigsaw puzzles.  She had a love for music and spent hours playing her electric organ by ear.  Emily loved playing gospel and polka music.

Emily was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Ramsey in 1956; second husband, Edward Nalezny in 2002; her parents: James and Lillian Dolezal; 5 sisters; 6 brothers; an infant sister; an infant brother; 5 sisters-in-laws.

She is survived by a sister-in-law: Mary Ann Nalezny and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Willow River.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Willow River.  Memorials are preferred to the Willow River Fire Department in Emily's memory.
