Ernest "Ernie" M. Peters, 80, of Moose Lake, formerly of Aurora, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and avid collector car mechanic passed away suddenly and unexpectedly surrounded by his family, Friday, February 26, 2010 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. He was born February 10, 1930 in Moose Lake to Walter and Esther (Kauhanen) Peters. Ernie was united in marriage to Genevieve Leino on September 20, 1952 in Moose Lake. Ernie serviced 4 years in the U.S. Army and retired in 1992 after providing electrical services to Erie Mining Company in Hoyt Lakes for 34 years. Ernie's quiet and friendly manner brought out the best in all around him. His smirkey smile and calm was always settling.

Ernie is preceded in death by his parents; son, Darrell; sister, June.

Ernie loved and is survived by his wife Gen, having been happily contentedly married for 57 years; daughters, Sherry (Terry) Leoni of Gilbert, Kim (Andy) Creager of Marine on St. Croix, Shelly (Andy) Case of Coon Rapids; son, Mike Peters of Bellport, NY; grandchildren, Tia, Nick and Jason Leoni, and Eric and Matt Case and his cat, Leo.

A gathering of family and friends was held on Monday, March 1, from 5-7 PM in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Moose Lake and continued on Tuesday, March 2, from 12 PM until the 1 PM Memorial Service at the church.
