Ethel H. Brown, 92 of Barnum-Moose Lake Area, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 in Aftenro Home, Duluth. She was born October 3, 1922 in Meeker County to Abner and Alina (Mastola) Wiisanen. Ethel attended Kingston School and graduated from Litchfield High School. Ethel was united in marriage to Robert Brown on February 20, 1943 in Kingston. Ethel and Robert lived in Kimball, Kingston and Sebeka before moving to Barnum Township in 1953. Ethel worked at Solheim Hardware from 1970-1987. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, Barnum Sports, Twins Baseball, watching Jeopardy, playing Scrabble and especially spending time with her family. Ethel was very proud of her Finnish heritage. She was a member of Barnum Community United Methodist Church.
Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; son, Dennis Brown; grandson, Wade Brown; 3 brothers, William, Harry and Evert; 5 sisters, Viana Hess, Adeline Benson, Isabelle Ervasti, Delores Bronson and Dorothy Mitchell; son-in-law, Edmund Thorson.
Ethel is survived by 3 children, Lannon (Mary) Brown of Montevideo, Darlene Thorson of Glendale, AZ and Robin Brown of Duluth; daughter-in-law, Deanie Brown of Battle Lake; 4 grandchildren, Jason Brown, Julie (Joel) Quaal, Lana (Adam Roen) Brown and Matthew (Kayla) Brown; 10 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Delores Wiisanen of Moorhead, Mary Lou (Donald) Erickson of Victoria and Hazel Brown of Elk River; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, August 21, from 5-7 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and will continue Saturday, August 22, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Service in Barnum Community United Methodist Church, Barnum with a luncheon to follow in the fellowship hall.
