Eugene "Gene" Gerard, 92, Moose Lake, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake.  He was born on May 15, 1927 in West Allis, WI to Frank and Edna Gerard.  Gene graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945.  After being Honorably Discharged from the Navy, Gene came to Minnesota where he farmed until the late 60's in Bremen Twp.  On October 1, 1960, Gene married Marian Brabec in Faith Lutheran Church, Birch Creek Twp.  Gene was well known for his gift of gab!  He later went to sell insurance and real estate in the area.  Gene also enjoyed playing cards, golfing, traveling, visiting family and friends, and spending winters in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian in 2016.  His parents, brothers: Earl and Jim; and sisters: Olive and Evelyn also preceded him in death.

Gene will be lovingly remembered by his daughter: Karen Nelson; grandchildren: Melissa Ratzer and Tim (Abbey) Nelson; great grandchildren: Stephanie Keinanen, Evan Nelson, Ayden Nelson, Nolan Nelson, Sophia Nelson, and Greyson Nelson; great granddaughter: Harper; sisters: June Leanna and Donna Meyer; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Visitation without the family present due to COVID-19 restrictions will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Friday, April 24, 2020 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home.  A private family inurnment service will be held in Sunnyside Cemetery, Willow River on Saturday, April 25, 2020.
