Evelyn V. Nordlund, 90, formerly of Kettle River and Moose Lake, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at Villa Vista Cromwell.  She was born April 18, 1931 in Kalevala Township to Ero and Vieno (Maijala) Leino.  She attended Kalevala Grade School and Cromwell High School graduating in 1949.  After high school, Evelyn worked at Peterson Drug in Moose Lake and at Diamond Match in Cloquet.

On May 21, 1960, Evelyn married Bentti Nordlund.  They lived in Biwabik, Kettle River, and Moose Lake.  Bentti and Evelyn enjoyed dancing, camping, visiting Arizona, and spending time at the cabin with family, especially their grandchildren.  They were members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Kettle River, where Evelyn taught Sunday School and was a member of the Mission Guild and the quilting group.  She loved spending time with friends in the Kalevala Homemakers Club, the Finn Girls Group, the Birthday Club, and "the 49er's", her graduating class.  She never turned down an opportunity to play a card game or to challenge her daughters to a round of Bananagrams.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and Bentti, her husband of 55 years.

She is survived by three daughters: Brenda (Dave) Valine of Carlton, Julie (Terry) Johnson of Mora, and Janet (Tom) Olson of East Bethel; eight grandchildren: Jacob (Kari), Emily, Sam (Bekah), Amy, Katie, Abbie, Alexis, and Logan; two sisters: Marion Moody of Stillwater and Carol (Hans) Hanson of Cromwell; and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Evelyn's close family and friends will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11 am in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.  Masks will be required.  Memorial gifts will be given to the Holy Trinity Church's quilting group.  There will be a livestream link added to the funeral home website prior to the service.  Private family inurnment at West Branch Cemetery will be held in the spring.
