Evon A. Asleson, 72, Willow River, unexpectedly died on Friday, December 21, 2018 at her home.

Evon was born on June 15, 1946 in Hebron, North Dakota to Gabriel and Josephine (Beckler) Grinsteinner. She graduated in 1964 from Humboldt High School in St. Paul, marrying John E. Asleson in St. Paul shortly after on January 15, 1966.

She was a woman of many talents and interests; reading, cooking, knitting and crocheting, watching football, deer hunting, and traveling – she had always wanted to visit Hawaii and was looking forward to an Alaskan Cruise in June with her daughter. Evon worked as a teller with First Merchants Insurance, an insurance agent with First Bank, and continued as an insurance agent with Reliable Insurance Agency in Cloquet for over 20 years. Her clients appreciated her hard work ethic, loved her joyful personality, and requested that she never retire. More than anything, Evon loved her family. She was the rock and the glue that held them together. Reminiscing and telling stories was Evon's favorite pastime.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Asleson; parents, Gabriel and Josephine; brothers, John and David; and sisters, Joyce and Pearl.

Evon will be dearly missed by her two children, Brenda (Doug) Bednar and Mark (Kim) Asleson; seven grandchildren, Sami, Jessi, Matt, Beth, Melanie, Kaylee, and Madison; brothers, Dan (Diane) Grinsteinner, Julius "Woody" (Kathy) Grinsteinner, and Jerry (Lisa) Grinsteinner; sisters, Delores Osbourne and Jane (Gene) Kelm: and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10am until the 12pm funeral on Saturday, December 29 ^th , 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Lake. Burial will be at 3pm on Saturday, December 29 ^th , 2018 in Lakeview Cemetery, Rutledge.
