Obituary

Fern Delores Von Rueden, 87, of Sturgeon Lake, formerly of Hinckley, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015 surrounded by family at her home. She was born April 9, 1928 in Hinckley to Ernest and Hulda (Nelson) Dahl. Fern was united in marriage to Raymond "Red" Von Rueden on November 15, 1948 in St. Paul. Fern was a nursing assistant at Bethesda Hospital as well as Bookkeeper for Hinckley Co-op Grocery and Gas Station. After moving to Sturgeon Lake, Fern and Red owned and operated Red's Embassy in Sturgeon Lake. Fern enjoyed flower gardening, home decorating, sewing, reading, baking and was very creative at crafts. Fern was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary.

Fern is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Milton and Elton Dahl; brothers-in-law, Laverne Wicklund and Russ Haddon; sister-in-law, Pat Dahl.

Fern is survived by her loving husband, Raymond "Red" Von Rueden; son, Alan Von Rueden; 2 daughters, Sandra (Jim) Sikkink and Joan (Dennis) Stockamp; grandchildren, Lynnette (Dan) Lewis, Jeffrey (Kay) Sikkink, Quentin, Tyler and Brandi Von Rueden; great grandchildren, Samantha, Kaitlyn and Daniel Lewis; brother, Norman Dahl; 2 sisters, Phyllis Wicklund and Lorraine Haddon; brother, Norman (Pat) Dahl; sisters-in-law, Mona (Lester) Klar and Pat (Don) Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, July 20, from 5-7 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and will continue Tuesday, July 21, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service in St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Sturgeon Lake.
